Louis Tomlinson Arrested for Assaulting Paparazzi at LAX

When it comes to the paparazzi, it’s usually pretty hard to feel any sympathy. After all, they are basically glorified, paid, legally-protected stalkers who make money off of taking pictures of famous people’s private moments. It’s kind of sick when you think about it.

One Director star, Louis Tomlinson, was traveling from Nevada to Los Angeles when things went wrong at LAX. At around 11:45pm, the singer was put in handcuffs on Friday night following a “citizen’s arrest.”

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department set his bail at $20,000 but, eventually, released him on his own recognizance after he agreed to appear in court on March 29, 2017.

Things got out of control when the 25-year-old and his girlfriend, Eleanor Calder, were at the baggage claim waiting for their belongings. Tomlinson claims that one photog wouldn’t leave him alone and the complaint alleges that, in response, the performer grabbed the man by his legs and dragged him to the floor, which resulted in the paparazzo hitting his head on the ground.

The Brit’s lawyer, Martin Singer, shared his version of the events saying: “The paparazzi provoked and caused the altercation that occurred with Louis. It’s not the first time that a paparazzi has created an altercation with a celebrity. While the altercation was going on with the paparazzi, three other individuals were attacking his girlfriend during this incident and he came to her defense.”

If that is true, who wouldn’t try to protect their girlfriend? After all, what has she done to warrant that kind of unwelcomed attention?

Police released their own statement explaining that “it was a private person’s arrest” and then described: “He was at the baggage claim area of terminal 4 at LAX when apparently he was surrounded by paparazzi. He was there with his girlfriend and there was some altercation, pushing shoving that happened. One of the paparazzi fell down and that paparazzi signed a private person arrest for battery misdemeanor. Tomlinson was released within an hour of arriving to the station on his own recognizance.”

You know how this could have all been avoided? By making the paparazzi respect personal boundaries. Do we really need pictures of Louis Tomlinson and his girlfriend grabbing their luggage at almost midnight? It’s pretty ridiculous!
