Vine star Hayes Grier has been hospitalized following an accident, his brother Nash Grier tweeted on Thursday, July 28. It's unclear at the moment what happened, but Nash asked fans to pray for his recovery.
"Just got a call on set that said Hayes was in a crash. He's now in the hospital," Nash tweeted to his 5.63 million followers, along with the hashtag "#PrayForHayes."
In follow-up tweets, he wrote, "He can move & talk (thank god) but he's coughed up a lot of blood. That's all I know. Praying he has a quick recovery. Damn I hate hearing s–t like that on the phone, scared me to death."
An hour later, he tweeted a screenshot of a text exchange — captioned "Phew" — with some (relatively) good news about Hayes. "Your brother is pretty busted up right now. Luckily no major stuff," the text read. "All scans came back negative for any internal bleeding. He does have a concussion, fractured top two ribs and bruised lung on one side. He is in a lot of pain."
Hayes, 16, soared to internet fame thanks to his viral Vines and YouTube videos. He currently has 3.53 million Twitter followers, 5.3 million Instagram followers, 4.4 million Vine followers and 848,000 YouTube subscribers.
Last year, Hayes' popularity earned him a spot as a competitor on season 21 of Dancing With the Stars. He was the second-youngest contestant ever and danced with pro Emma Slater until they were sent home in week seven.
Recently, Variety announced that the teen would star in his own unscripted comedy series, Top Grier, for Verizon's Go90. The project will show him attempting to run a farm in his hometown of Mooresville, North Carolina.
After his brother shared the news of his accident on Thursday, fans rallied on Twitter with the hashtag #PrayForHayes. More than 168,000 tweets were posted within an hour.
