Amy Schumer-approved? With plenty of new pop-culture fodder to propel its dialogue, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life's first promo shows Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) bickering over whether the Inside Amy Schumer star's lifestyle jibes with their own.
The Netflix series' preview clip suggests that Gilmore Girls' time away has done nothing to slow the easy, lightning-quick banter between the two leads. "Do you think Amy Schumer would like me?" Lorelai asks Rory, apparently out of the blue.
When Rory says no, the Dragonfly Inn boss fires back, "Why? It's not like I'm perpetually armed, or at sundown I turn into one of those vampires with no sense of humor, or I have that plant strapped to me that blooms every year and smells disgusting."
After a spirited back-and-forth about which plant Lorelai is referring to, Rory makes her case.
"Every single time I see her in a magazine, she's on vacation doing water sports," the Yale grad says.
Schumer tweeted her response to the clip, saying about Lorelai, "I would love her!"
"I've only done 2 water sports, and they took pictures of it both times. I promise I usually just lay there (sex too)," the Trainwreck actress added.
The promo also features the tagline, "Seasons may change, but some things never will."
Netflix announced at the Television Critics Association press tour on Wednesday, July 27, that the Gilmore Girls revival launches with four new 90-minute episodes on Friday, November 25. Each episode is centered on one of the four seasons of the year, and given that there are Christmas decorations visible in the promo's scene, it is likely from "Winter."
Joining Bledel and Graham in the revival are virtually every key cast member from the original run, including Melissa McCarthy (Sookie St. James), Scott Patterson (Luke Danes) and Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore). Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons before signing off in May 2007.
